Former Unity Environmental University Campus Sells for $6 Million 

The Buyer Plans to Open a Summer Camp, Keeping the 200+ Acres in Active Outdoor Use 

Portland, ME (June 2026) – The Boulos Company is pleased to announce the sale of the former Unity Environmental University campus at 90 Quaker Hill Road in Unity, Maine, for $6 million. The buyer plans to operate the 225-acre property as an upscale summer camp with outdoor programming. 

“Throughout this process, our focus was to identify a buyer whose vision aligned with the long-term potential of the property,” said Boulos Company Broker John Finegan, who represented the seller alongside Senior Partner Drew Sigfridson, SIOR. “We also recognized the importance of this location to the surrounding area and worked diligently to find a user that would be embraced by the town while contributing to economic growth in the region.” 

The university was founded on the Unity campus in 1965 and built its reputation in environmental education, including becoming the first college to divest its endowment from fossil fuel companies in 2012.  

The sale comes nearly three years after the university listed the property in 2023. Unity Environmental University has shifted to a primarily remote learning model and relocated its headquarters to the Pineland Farms campus in New Gloucester, where it also offers in-person learning.

Transitioning away from it was one of the toughest decisions we have ever had to make,” said Melik Peter Khoury, President and CEO of the university. “Because of those difficult decisions, Unity Environmental University is stronger than ever, serving students across the country while remaining true to the values and purpose that began right here in Maine.”
